Jim Swales

Anna Swales

For as long as she can remember, art has had a big impact on Anna’s life. She started winning awards at a very young age starting with pencil drawings and as she got older her interests leaned towards wood carving, where she excelled again, becoming a recognized Master Wood Carver.

Years later Anna, with some close friends, decided to get tattoos. It was then, upon seeing the amazing work of the artist, that Anna set a new goal to become a TATTOO ARTIST. Anna took an intense tattoo course and found an apprenticeship under Jim Swales.

Jim Swales

An artist at a very early age Jim would say he had a pencil in hand while in the womb. Starting out in Niagra Falls Jim has been tattooing since 1985. He is able to tattoo all genres ranging from Old School right through to New School and everything in between.

An Award winning artist , Jim has studied with Crazy Ace Daniels of Way Cool TATTOOS and has owned multiple tattoo shops through the years. He has experience with all walks of life and would be considered a true people person.

FAQ

Do you do piercings?

No, unfortunately not; Ravens Strange and Unusual Oddities and Tattoos artists only tattoo

Will it hurt?

Being tattooed is generally unpleasant, much like a cat scratch is.

The severity or mildness of pain you experience is different for each individual. As well, it varies depending on area being tattooed as well as your general wellbeing the day you receive your tattoo.

How much does it cost?

Our shop minimum is $120, though the price varies on what kind of work you are looking to get, the size of tattoo and the detail involved.  Your artist may give you a approx cost for the whole piece or may chose to do an hourly rate of $180 per hour.

Are tattoo prices expensive?

Good tattoo’s aren’t cheap; Cheap tattoos aren’t good….famous quote and Very true. You get what you pay for.

We try to keep our prices competitive with other high end shops, though prices generally reflect the work you are getting.

Can you give me a deal?

You wouldn’t ask that of a retail store or grocery store; and frankly it can be rather offensive as it undermines the work we do. Our artists have spent alot of time and effort becoming as good as they are and deserve to be payed for thier efforts.

Are you guys clean?

We follow strict guidelines and health board rules. We are health board regulated and monitored. We use only disposable “one use” products for each individual.

Can I bring a friend to watch me get tattooed?

Our space is limited, though we try to be accommodating. We ask that you limit friends to 1 or 2 people. Your artists needs to have focus when doing your tattoo and has the right to ask anyone being too loud or distracting to leave.

Will you tattoo me if I am under 18?

Short answer: perhaps; though we are generally hesitant to do so, and tend to discourage it. To be considered for a tattoo as a minor we greatly take into account what it is you are getting. We also require parental or legal guardian consent at the time the tattoo will be done; both the minor and parent/guardian must have valid government issued photo ID. If the last names are different or any such inconsistency, then additional documentation to prove parenthood will be required.

Can I bring my own design?

Yes absolutely you may. Our experienced artists can go over with you the possibilities and limitations of what you want to get.
In fact we find it very helpful if clients come with reference material, so that we can have an understanding of what you would like. It does not have to be the exact image for us to put together what you are thinking.

Can't I get just any tattoo anywhere on my body I like?

Our artists will take on a variety of work, but reserve the right to refuse service for artwork and pieces they are uncomfortable with or find objectionable/offensive. Also neck, hands, and faces are subject to harsher consideration, as they are areas that are the most difficult to hide, and may hinder certain lifestyles.
In the end, the artists have the final say.

Do you do walk-ins?

We are happy to take on any walk ins that come our way, provided we have an artist available to assist you.
